Thanksgiving and Black Friday
Every PetSmart in the US closes on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26. That includes the grooming salon, training classes and curbside pickup.
Wednesday, November 25 runs on normal hours, so it’s your last chance to buy food, litter or medication before the holiday. Lines can be long that evening, so morning is the better window.
Stores reopen on Black Friday, often earlier than usual to catch sale shoppers. Check the current PetSmart deals before you go, because app offers can stack with in-store markdowns.
Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day
The last week of the year has the most schedule changes. This is where most wasted trips happen.
- Christmas Eve is open, but most stores close early in the evening

- December 26 is back to normal, and it’s a busy day for gift returns
- New Year’s Eve closes early, much like Christmas Eve

Easter Sunday falls on April 5 in 2026. Stores open on their usual Sunday schedule, though some close early and many grooming salons don’t take appointments.
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are both Sundays, so they simply run Sunday hours. Memorial Day and Juneteenth are normal shopping days.
The Fourth of July lands on a Saturday this year. Most stores open as usual, and a few close a little early in the evening.
If your dog panics at fireworks, shop for calming aids and check the ID tag a few days before. Waiting until July 4 means picked-over shelves and a stressed pet.
Fall Holidays
Labor Day, Monday, September 7, runs on regular weekday hours. Salons fill up quickly on holiday Mondays, so book grooming a week or two ahead.
Halloween falls on a Saturday in 2026, with normal Saturday hours. Pet costumes sell out fast that week, so shop early if you want a specific size.
Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, is an ordinary business day at PetSmart. Nothing closes and hours don’t change.
Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Monday, October 12, also run on regular hours. Banks and post offices may close, but pet stores stay open.
Pet Photos With Santa
Many PetSmart stores host pet photos with Santa on selected December weekends. These events run during store hours, so they never fall on Christmas Day itself.

Holiday changes are trimmed from the regular schedule, so it helps to know that first. A typical store runs 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Holiday weeks bring more shoppers, and the store feels it most on certain days. Timing your trip can save a long wait at the register and the salon desk.

Saturday afternoons are busy all year, and holiday Saturdays more so. If you need help from an associate, such as a fish or water test, go on a weekday.
Online deals often carry on after Black Friday into Cyber Monday, November 30. If the store is packed, ordering for delivery or pickup later in the week can be the calmer route.
Grooming, PetsHotel and Vet Hours
Store hours and service hours are separate, and that’s where people get caught out. A store can be open while its salon or clinic is already closed.

At one Arizona store we checked, the vet clinic closed at 6 p.m. and adoptions at 7 p.m. That’s while the store itself stayed open until 9 p.m.

Curbside, Delivery and Online Orders
Petsmart.com and the app take orders all day, every day, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. The catch is that pickup and same-day delivery need an open store to fill them.
Curbside pickup normally runs from opening until 7 p.m. On the two closure days there’s no pickup or same-day delivery, and early-closing days cut the window short.
