PetSmart Treats Rewards – How to Earn & Redeem
Treats Rewards is PetSmart’s free loyalty program, and every $1 you spend earns 10 points. Each 1,000 points is worth $2 off, so members get about 2% back before bonuses.
Higher tiers, bonus offers and salon certificates push that higher. Here’s how to get the most from it.

What Treats Rewards Is
PetSmart describes Treats Rewards as a points-based program that rewards you for shopping in stores, online or donating to PetSmart Charities. Members also get exclusive deals by email and a surprise on their pet’s birthday.
It isn’t a credit card. Points simply turn into discounts on future purchases of products and pet services, in stores or online.
There’s no fee and no minimum spend to stay a member.
How to Join
Sign up free in a store, at petsmart.com or in the PetSmart app. You need to be 18 or older and live in the US, including Puerto Rico.
- Give your first and last name, phone number and email
- Verify your email from the link PetSmart sends
- Create a password if you joined in store, so you can use the app
- Add your pet’s details to finish your profile
Completing your profile earns a one-time 1,000-point bonus, worth $2. You can only have one account per person.
How You Earn Points
All members earn 10 points per $1 on products and on Grooming Salon, PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and Dog Training services. In stores, scan your app barcode or give your phone number or email.
Online, sign in before checkout. Points arrive 24 to 72 hours after shipping, or when you collect a pickup order.
Orders through DoorDash, Instacart or Shipt can earn points if you link your Treats account to that app first. These points can take up to 7 days to appear.
Every cent counts, so a $35.55 purchase earns 355.5 points. Points aren’t earned on gift cards, shipping, bag fees, discounts, taxes, tips or vet services.
Member, Bestie and VIPP Tiers
Your tier depends on how much you spend in a calendar year. Higher tiers earn more points on every dollar.

Tier status lasts for the year you earn it plus the next calendar year. To keep it beyond that, meet the spend threshold again in that second year.
Bestie and VIPP members also get tier events and early access to some sales. Your new tier appears within about a day of hitting the threshold.
What Your Points Are Worth
Because 1,000 points equal $2, it’s easy to work out what you’ll save. Here’s what typical yearly spending earns at the base rate.

These figures leave out bonus offers, salon certificates and Autoship payouts, which can add a lot more. Tier bonuses only start once you reach the spend threshold, so real savings depend on when in the year you hit it.
Extra Ways to Earn
Donations to PetSmart Charities at checkout earn 2X points. Activated offers in the app add bonus points on chosen products, and most offers can be stacked.
Multiplier offers apply to base points, not tier bonuses. A VIPP using a 5X offer on $15 earns 750 multiplied points plus 60 tier points, or 810 in total.
Salon Reward Certificates
Members can earn up to two 5,000-point certificates a year from the Grooming Salon. You earn one by booking a bath or groom two months in a row.
Visit in January and February, for example, and the certificate arrives in March. It must be claimed and used by the end of that month or it expires.

Autoship Points Payout
Members with an active Autoship subscription earn 2,500 points for every $100 of qualifying recurring Autoship spend. That’s an extra $5 back on top of regular points.
Payout points must be redeemed within three months. If you go more than 7 days without an active Autoship, unclaimed payout rewards are forfeited.
Treats Rewards and Services
Grooming, PetsHotel, Doggie Day Camp and Dog Training all earn the same 10 points per dollar as products. Points can also be redeemed on these services, which makes them a good way to spend a large balance.

Vet care at Banfield or other clinics inside PetSmart doesn’t earn or accept points, since those are separate businesses.
Claim VIPP When You Adopt
Members who adopt a pet through a PetSmart in-store adoption partner can claim VIPP status. Use your Treats email on the adoption application, then activate the Claim VIPP offer in the app.

How to Redeem Points
In stores, tell the cashier you’d like to use your points, and the maximum savings are applied. Large redemptions require you to verify your identity.
Online, sign in and choose your points in the cart or at checkout. Points are redeemed in steps of 1,000 points, worth $2 each, up to your order total.
Points used on an item aren’t returned if you return that item. Points also can’t be transferred to another member.
Managing Your Account
If you joined in store, create a password online or in the app using the same name, email and phone number. That unlocks online redemption, pet profiles and offers.
You can update your phone number or email at the register or in the app.
If you forget your password, use the reset link on the sign-in page. Check your spam folder if the email doesn’t arrive within 15 minutes.
Your points balance shows in the app, on your online account, at the bottom of store receipts and often at the top of PetSmart emails.
Missing Points
Forgot to scan your account at checkout? Call Customer Care at 1-888-839-9638 with your receipt to add the purchase.
Each transaction can only be claimed once. Online points show after the order ships, so give them up to 72 hours before calling.
Is Treats Rewards Worth It?
Yes, for almost anyone who shops at PetSmart even occasionally. It’s free, and the profile bonus alone is worth $2.
The real value comes from activated offers, salon certificates and Autoship payouts. Regular groomers and Autoship users get far more back than the base 2%.

Birthday and Gotcha Day Gifts
Add your pet’s birthday or Gotcha Day to your profile, and PetSmart emails a surprise going into that month. Partner offers may appear in the app too.

How long do points take to appear?
In-store base points usually appear right away, and bonus points within 72 hours. Online points arrive 24 to 72 hours after your order ships.
Can I use points on Autoship?
Not currently. Autoship orders and delivery app orders can’t be paid with points.
Can I donate my points?
Yes, during donation offers sent by email throughout the year. Activate the offer and the points are donated to PetSmart Charities.
Can I have more than one account?
No, each person can have only one account. Customer care can merge duplicates, though some points may not transfer.
Do I earn points on gift card purchases?
